Meet Smitty, a linebacker-sized potbelly pig with a larger-than-life personality, an undeniable love of feet, and a talent for chasing humans down for a proper belly rub. Smitty’s story begins outside of Knoxville, Tennessee, where he spent years abandoned in a backyard, watching life happen from the other side of a fence. Though neighbors did their best—bringing food (some might say a little too much food) and straw during the winter—what Smitty needed most couldn’t be tossed over a fence. He needed companionship. He needed love.

Smitty made his loneliness impossible to ignore. Every time someone walked by, he would run to the fence line, begging for attention, desperate for a scratch, a kind word, any sign that he mattered. Pigs are deeply social and emotional beings, and Smitty had spent far too long without a real connection. Then, one VERY, VERY caring soultruly saw him — not as a problem, not as a pig left behind, but as a life worth fighting for. That person refused to look away, searched for help, and ultimately found us… changing Smitty’s life forever.

Today, Smitty’s world looks completely different. He now resides in his own personal townhouse—complete with a TV, mood lighting, and a remote control for his HVAC (because Smitty enjoys comfort and makes no apologies for it). While he’s a little rough around the edges when it comes to making pig friends and prefers to live solo, he more than makes up for it with his daily routine of making the rounds around the farm to greet everyone. And each evening, you’ll find him settled in for his favorite ritual: watching Seinfeld with Amy, fully committed to the joy of togetherness.
