Omero

Meet Omero, a pig whose story is one of survival, second chances x two, and finally knowing what it means to be safe at a sanctuary. Omero came to us from a man that loved him SO much, he saved him from being slaughtered but he couldn't keep him so he searched and searched to find a place for Omero to call home.  His early life was rough and the only certainty was that he would be slaughtered. But because of one loving man, Omero got his second chane and now we are giving him his second second chance!!!

When we met Omero, he was living in a shipping container in a work yard, the only place the man who saved him could find to keep him safe.  It wasn't ideal but he went daily to check on him and you can tell how much this man loved him! When he came to the sanctuary, watching him discover the simple joys of pig life has been nothing short of magical. The first time he  grazed in the grass, seeing him easily and quickly make pig friends, the way he dances for food,  the absolute commitment he shows to demolishing a roasted pumpkin… Omero lives fully and enthusiastically in every moment.

Today, Omero is thriving. His bed is always warm and dry, his belly is always full, and he spends his days surrounded by pig friends who make him feel safe and understood.  He is currently fat blind so his new friends help him around while he works on his diet and exercise. He reminds us daily why rescue work matters — because when animals are given compassion and consistency, they don’t just survive, they flourish.
